Westwood Patriots (38) vs Ishpeming Hemitites (43) – Boys Basketball 12-10-10

The Westwood Patriot Boys held court Friday night as they hosted the Ishpeming Hemitites in Mid-Pen Conference action. Both teams pressed for the open shot early, with Ishpeming holding a 5-4 lead halfway thru the 1^st quarter. Ishpeming kept looking underneath against a tough Patriot Defense, ad managed to take a 7-4 lead, but Westwood rallied back and finished the quarter down by one 7-6.

Both teams came out running to start the 2^nd quarter, with Ishpeming starting the 2^nd with a slam dunk, but Westwood came right back and answered with a long range bucket. Then after an early time out, it was shooting from the foul line that put Westwood back on top 14-12 midway through the 2^nd. Then Ishpeming fired off 2 unanswered buckets to jump back into the lead 16-14. Both teams kept it close with Westwood holding on to a 17-16 lead going into the locker room.

The Hemitites and Patriots both came out of the locker room and started fast, but both team chaulked up more points at the charity stripe than the hardwoods, with Ishpeming ending the 3^rd with a 33-27 lead.

The 4^th quarter saw Ishpeming move out as much a 10 points head of the Patriots, but Westwood chippedto bring it within 5 but the Hemitites held on for the win 43-37, winning their season opener, with Westwood even at 1-1.

The Westwood Patriots Boys are back on the air Monday December 13^th with Joe Duckworth bringing you the call as the Patriots’ travel to Munising to take on the Mustangs. Pre-game starts at 7:15pm with the tipoff approximately 7:45pm.

The Westwood girls take to the hardwoods and the airwaves Tuesday Decmeber 14^th as they host the Ishpeming Hemitites with the pre-game at 7:15pm and the tipoff at 7:45pm, with Joe Duckworth at the microphone.
